I bought this as a replacement for my husbands old carhartt sweater hes been wearing for a few years. He loves the rain defender. It us very durable and lasts for years even when wearing at a construction job. Its light enough to move around in but warm enough to wear in the snow. 3x fits him great. He hates pull overs or anything fuzzy on the inside so this style is great for him. Definitely will continue to buy this one for him. His old one is still in great shape, its just sun faded and the sleeves are a little worn down. That one will continue to be a work jacket and this one will be a home jacket until it starts to fade.

Very warm for the weight and thickness. Does repel some water when raining. Good looking, could be used as an everyday jacket. I really like the loose fit on this zipper sweatshirt I prefer a 2X in shirts and jackets, and I know that this had a loose fit from the reviews that I had read but I like having the extra room I chose the carbon Heather Black for a color and I really like it I really don’t like a heavy coat anytime of the year and this is the perfect thickness and comfort that I like the best. The sleeves fit at a perfect length and the hoodie is the perfect size. I like that it’s long for length past the waist, but in cold weather, it will be a lot better. I like this new design so much better. as always, Carhartt gets five stars for this one.

Not a bad jacket, by any means. Definitely keeps you warm down to about 30°F with wind blowing… down to about 15°F with no wind. If you are in the rain, it takes a while to feel any inside. And I mean a while. Basically… SOAKED outside… dry or just barely damp inside. Hood keeps wind away if you turn your back to it. Don’t even feel it. Zipper broke after about 3 years of regular use. The teeth separated on the zip side. So I can’t zip it up anymore. It’s full. It will give you some size to work with inside of it. Pockets are nice and hold a decent amount in them.

Nice and warm, easy to put on and has a nice zipper. My only complaint is that one of the rivets that the drawstring around the hood comes through has popped out after the 2nd time in the washer, hence the 4 stars instead of 5. However, other than that, the jacket has held up nicely. I've worn it to work outdoors, traveling in both rain and snow, and every weather condition I've run into since I bought it. I wore it all winter, and never found that it was too light or heavy for most cooler days. One thing to consider is that it is physically bulkier than a normal sweat jacket, but it is still comfy and warm.

I work out a lot so 90% of what I buy is medium, the other 10% is large (my taylor say's I have an athletic build, lol he being nice) but based on the reviews I opted for small. Having said that, it fits perfect, couldn't be happeir.
